Adams Opens Service Station on South Ferguson Street
L. D. Adams will open a service station at the corner of South Ferguson and Fast Rotan Yeets Monday. He will sell Onyx gasoline. The annual Stamford American Cooking School opens Monday at 2 p.m. in the City Auditorium and runs three days. Mrs. Gertrude Burbank returns as lecturer with new recipes and tips for women in Stamford and nearby areas. Local businesses and national manufacturers sponsor daily attendance prizes and an electric range and refrigerator prize for the cake baking contest. Rainfall Brings Needed Moisture to Stamford Area
A slow rain totaling .96 inch fell last Friday afternoon and night, easing drought conditions in Stamford. Farmers credit the moisture with preventing a freeze and protecting fruit and grain as temperatures dropped sharply. Rain was fairly general with heavier falls east and northeast of Stamford. An additional .07 inch shower Wednesday raised the weekly total to 1.03 inches.
