Miss Beasie Simpson Dies at Fourteen After Typhoid Fever

Valley Hill correspondent reports Miss Beasie Simpson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L N Simpson, died Tuesday at 2 20 am after suffering typhoid fever. A bright, intelligent girl at entering womanhood, she was greatly loved by family and will be mourned alongside her late brother who passed away four weeks ago. The obituary notes the bereaved parents and surviving family in sorrowful tribute.

Zahnzinger Died at 68 After Illness in Indiana

John Zahnzinger died September 24 1909 at 8 30 am at the home of his son in law Geo Begemann He had suffered paralysis and lived with Begemann for eight months He was the father of Adolph Zahnzinger and Mrs Geo Begemann The funeral was held at Evanaville Indiana his birthplace and old home.

Death of Ormsby Shewmaker at Mackville

Ormsby Shewmaker aged twenty four, youngest son of Mr. Frank Shewmaker, died at his father's home near Mackville Tuesday morning September 21 at one o'clock. He was born and raised in the county and was known as one of its popular young men, after suffering inflammatory rheumatism for four years. Unlimited medical skill.

Court Day Sales Bring Large Crowd to Town

A court day sale drew a sizable crowd with lots of stock offered chiefly mules. S. M. Campbell lists items sold including a cow and calf for 29 dollars, Jersey cow 36.75, two year mule 111, old mare and baggy 43, blemished mule 65, horse 76.50, jennet 27, mare and colt 125, sheep 32.10 per head, two yearling heifers 16.60 each, a cow 21, six hogs 51, seven pigs 20. Kentucky Star Flour advertised as good and best made.

Fire at Dr Hyatt Home Extinguished Early Morning

At two o'clock alarms sounded as a fire broke out at Dr. M. W. Hyatt's residence on the town outskirts. Miss Elise Barrett discovered the smoke and the kitchen floor, ignited by the range, burned through to a cellar hole before firefighters arrived. damage was reported as inconsiderable, but the situation could have been disastrous without early detection.

New Tobacco Warehouses Rise West of Springfield

Washington County Tobacco Warehouse Co and Boblitt Bishop and Camden push large structures near town to serve as loose leaf markets. Both houses will be well lit to aid buyer inspections, attracting farmers to sell locally with hopes of top prices. The two new plants join two existing structures, forming four major tobacco handling buildings in Springfield.

Dog bites man at sale leaving serious injury

Mr. T. Wm. Simms was bitten after a shepherd dog leaped a wire fence during a Campbell & Hottoms sale. The dog jerked free and tore flesh from Simms's hand before friends freed the animal. Dr. J. C. Mudd treated the wound. prognosis improves as the dog was not a vicious offender.

Shonts Sued for Damages in Case of Alleged Affairs

Theodore P. Shonts, president of the Interborough Metropolitan Company and director of several railroads, is sued for 200000 by Frederick Hirsh, who accuses Shonts of an affair with Hirshs wife. Hirsh says he seeks a verdict as a trigger for criminal action to expose wealth figures who meddle in marriages.

The will of John Hardesty was probated on Monday with no executor named. Ryan Exonerated in Self-Defense Trial

Joseph Ryan, accused of killing his brother in law Eugene Mattingly near Burka distillery in Loretto, was exonerated at the examining trial before Judge John A. Burton. The Commonwealth witnesses supported self defense. the defense motion to dismiss was sustained. Ryan, 18, is son of Timothy Ryan. Mattingly, 26, son of Sim Mattingly, was married to Mary Lizzie Ryan, who survives with one child.

Two performances entertained large crowds Friday afternoon and evening. The show featured clean acts, acrobats, and well trained animals. A daytime street parade drew a crowd as clowns, monkeys, wild animals, ponies, horse riders, bands and more moved through town.
