Nine Chickens Steal Nets $900 In La Crosse Farm Raid
In La Crosse Wisconsin on October 26 nine chickens valued at $900 were stolen from August Lenhoff’s farm near Caldonia. Mrs Lenhoff woke to barking dogs and fired her shotgun when suspects loitered at the coop. A wallet with $900 was found later and three men posing as buyers visited the yard. The thiefes escaped with nine birds while the money was deposited in a village bank.

Fire destroys Dahringer home in Marion County
A defective flue caused a late Friday night blaze at Henry Dahringer’s South Spalding avenue home near St. Augustine’s church. The house burned rapidly but most furniture was moved out.
