Schmitz re elected in San Francisco. anti Mormon ticket wins in Salt Lake City.
Mrs. Margaret Bowman Grundy died at her Valley Hill home Thursday November 2 1905 at 10 o clock a m of heart trouble. Born November 1838 in Nelson County she married Senator Thos S Grundy in 1859. Seven children born, six living: Thomas L Grundy Bloomfield Charles L Grundy Washington County C C McChordSpringfield John D Grundy Bardstown Lyda Grundy Valley Hill Goddard Grundy Valley Hill. Funeral at Valley Hill home followed by interment in family burying ground. Reverend Pyather of the Methodist church preached the sermon. She was devout and charitable to a high degree.
President Roosevelt proclaims Thursday November 30 as a day of thanksgiving and prayer. He notes national well being, urges citizens to gather in homes and places of worship, and to dedicate themselves to cleanliness, honor, and wisdom.
The obituary recalls a genial woman beloved by hundreds, whose death leaves husbandless children and a grieving neighborhood. She resided for many years and was devoted to family, with friends mourning deeply and offering sympathy to the bereaved.
W. H. Lyon, a leading Loretto merchant, died at his home Saturday night from stomach trouble after a period of illness. He was a devout Catholic and highly regarded in the community, and his loss is described as a great blow to the town. The text also notes a Paris demonstration marking Paul de Roulede's return today.
James Halligan aged about sixty five was found dead in bed at the home of Mr. Andy Camley at the western end of the county. He was believed to be an Ohioan with kin in Buffalo New York and Texas. Death was thought due to exposure after illness described as asthma. Halligan had been a skilled mechanic turned tramp, passing through the area previously and taking work for a few weeks. He was buried at Gethsemane with county funds covering expenses. Deputy Sheriff Walter Wilson, a former county sergeant, reported the incident.
