Democrats Sweep as Thurman Wins Big District Vote

The Marion County Leader reports Judge Thurman secured election with an overwhelming majority in the eleveth judicial district and the county backed Democratic candidates including Clem S. Hill for Commonwealth's Attorney. Hendren won magistrate in Willisburg and North precincts. Other races: T. D. Graham for Representative led in Marion, with mixed results across Mackville, Brush Grove, and Fredericktown precincts.

Louisville Elects W. C. Head Mayor and Democrats Sweep

The Louisville Democratic victory spreads beyond Washington county and the eleventh judicial district as Kentucky shifts power. Louisville, after two years of Republican rule, elects W. C. Fusion Ticket Defeats Regular Democratic Ticket in Bexington

In Bexington the Fusion Ticket, a coalition of Republicans and Democrats, defeated the regular Democratic ticket. W. F. Blair was elected as Representative.

Owensboro Democrats win mayoral race by large majority

Owensboro voters endorse the Democratic ticket for the first time in eight years. Dr. Lambert defeats Republican A. J. Williams by a decisive 73 percent share of 733 votes cast.

Mrs Eliza Platt Lewis Dies of Stomach Cancer at 60

Mrs. Eliza Platt Lewis, widow of Abraham C. Lewis, died early yesterday from stomach cancer after declining health. Born in Springfield Kentucky, she lived at 1018 Brook Street and was active in church and charitable work. Survived by four children Edith Viola Lewis Leon Patterson and Adrian Platt Lewis. Funeral held at her residence and interment at Cave Hill Cemetery.

Death of Mrs Lanham at Sixteen After Typhoid Relapse

Mrs. Katie Lanham, wife of Scott Lanham, died Oct 27 at her father in law J. Lanham's home. Daughter of W. F. Mann she was sixteen and recently married. Death followed a relapse from typhoid fever. She belonged to New Hope Baptist church and was mourned by many. Rev. W. H. Williams of Springfield conducted the funeral. The Sun extends condolences to the husband.

Russell Hardin of Hardesty and Miss Ethel Gray of Hardesty eloped to Jellico Tennessee arriving October 29 where they were united in marriage. Miss Gray is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Gray and noted for her character. Mr. Hardin is a hardworking farmer. The Sun offers hearty congratulations.
