Tragic Death of Mooresville Teenager Coulter Jr
The Sun reports that George W. Coulter Jr aged fourteen of Mooresville died last Saturday around 11 am by hanging himself on a fence post. Coroner’s inquest verdict ruled suicide though some question if an accident or fright sparked the death. The family and readers extend condolences.

Death of Sister Clotilde at St Catherine’s
Sister Clotilde died at St Catherine’s on Monday morning at 7 after a lingering illness of consumption. She was the daughter of John Nixon of New Orleans and had been a member of the Dominican order for about three and a half years. Interment followed at 9 in the cemetery. She was in her twentieth year and beloved by the sisters for her devout service to the institution.

Spencer County tobacco growers hold mass meeting
In Taylorsville last Monday the Burley tobacco growers of Spencer county read Washington county meeting resolutions from The Sun. Growers regretted the failed association but vowed to continue the fight. All old contracts were burned at the meeting and a report of a Springfield gathering was read.

Death at Simms a Conscientious Christian Gentleman
Rich ard Thomas died at his son C. W. Thomas’s home in Simms on March 8 after feeble health. Born June 15, 1833, he lived to over seventy and left seven children, five living. Funeral at his son’s home led to burial in Ryder's cemetery in Lebanon. He was a Baptist and a devout Christian.

Mrs Laura Phillips died at her Lebanon home last Saturday from infirmities of old age. Survived by three daughters and three sons including Mrs Samuel Avritt of Louisville and Mrs John W Lewis of Lebanon. A prominent local figure born in Louisville, she was kin to Gen John B Castleman and Sam Castleman and aunt to several locals. Funeral held Sunday morning.
