Enthusiastic Washington county farmers met at the court house in Springfield to support the Burley Tobacco Growers Company. Hon. W. C. McChord urged unity against the Tobacco and Standard Oil trusts and called for a county treasurer and district assistants. Contributions totaled about $500 to fund the organizing effort as members pledged full support for 1905 cultivation and fair prices.

In Hillsboro a northbound flock of thirty to forty wild geese was seen Monday evening. Local residents note visits, farm activity, and court attendance as Miss Pear Armstrong visits relatives at Tatham Springs. President Roosevelt and Emperor William were awarded Doctor of Law degrees by the University of Pennsylvania.
