Thomas W. Lawson, foe of Standard Oil, may back a Growers' Association plan to corner the white Burley market. Archibald Stewart, the association’s representative, has been in talks with Lawson in Boston and Washington, with Stewart hoping for a few more days to finalize the deal and possibly bring Lawson to Cincinnati to direct the campaign. Cincinnati tobacco men report Lawson will invest and assist in securing the $10,000 needed.
