Next Milwaukee Meeting Chosen for State Fire Marshals
Louisville Times reports the State Fire Marshals Association of America chose Milwaukee as the next meeting site. The convention adjourned at noon after two days at the Paul Jones building with W F Neikirk as state fire marshal host. May 17 and 18 set as dates. M Purtell elected president replacing Edward Peterson. J A Craft named vice president and W S Rogers re-elected secretary. Executive Committee includes Neikirk and Peterson for next year. Delegates thanked Ty son, Hunter, Fontaine Ferry management, Neikirk and Shallcross. They enjoyed a Fontaine Ferry outing before today’s 10 am session.

McCarty Loses Three Year Old Buggy Horse
Mr L C McCarty bookkeeper at Peoples Deposit Bank lost his fine three year old buggy horse Monday morning after a Sunday drive. The animal grew ill near town and died despite veterinarians care with congestion of the lungs listed as the cause. The horse cost $160 and had recently been offered $225, which McCarty refused.

Dominican Nuns buy land for girls college near Chestertown
In La porte Indiana on June 7 the Dominican order announced the purchase of 135 acres near Chestertown to build a girls college. The main Dominican nuns are based in Springfield Kentucky. In Lebanon Junction a rail collision injured nine aboard southbound passenger No 9 and northbound freight No 12 announces the head on wreck near Rolling Fork bridge. The telegraph operator is blamed for failing to deliver orders. Elderly passenger Mrs A M Sherrod of Colesbury and Mrs Zinah Upton age eighty were among the injured. The crews escaped by leaping from the train.

A visitor from the Dugansville neighborhood impressed the Harrodsburg Herald staff with business sense. He noted he and his wife read every advertisement in the paper, paying a dollar a year, and claimed they earned over a hundred dollars by watching ads including a fifty dollar sheep ad.

Chauffeur Convicted of Manslaughter in New York City Crash
William Darragh, Covington chauffeur, killed thirteen year old Ingeraard Trimble on March 27 in New York City while speeding. He was found guilty of manslaughter last week and sentenced to up to twenty years. Darragh faces no new trial and will begin his term promptly.

Death of Alfred Smith in Bardstown 1909
Alfred Smith, 25, died at his parents’ home in Bardstown after several weeks of illness. Survived by his parents Mr and Mrs Frank Smith, three sisters and seven brothers. Funeral at St Joseph’s Church Saturday at 9 A M with Requiem High Mass. Interment in St Joseph cemetery. He was a brother of the proprietor of The Springfield Sun.

Five routes operate daily with March to May totals showing 20 339 packages on Route 1 and 4 066 mail pieces. other routes list 13 117 18 581 12 407 and 10 309 packages respectively with mail received totals of 4 066 2 822 3 777 2 708 and 2 429. Overall mail handled per route appears in the report alongside 184 money order applications. Boxes must be in regulated places, carriers to report box positions to the postmaster and he to Washington.

Death Follows Accident
Marion Falcon: Lafe Harmon, son of W. A. Harmon of Pope Creek neighborhood, died near Bloomington Illinois Saturday afternoon after being thrown from a passenger train while attempting to exit before it stopped. He was nineteen, lived near Bloomington three months, and his funeral was at Ryder Cemetery with Rev. John Powar officiating.

Lynched Man Identified as John Maxey in Frankfort Mob Action
A mob of 75 to 80 masked men forced Jailer Ridger from the county jail in Frankfort at 2:30 AM and hanged John Maxey on the bridge over the Kentucky River. After the shooting of Bert C. Bower, the mob fired 35 to 40 shots, then dispersed within minutes, leaving no identifiable participants.
