Massacre of Miller Family by Indians Recalled in Kentucky
A survivor account recounts in detail the 1790 raid by seven Cherokee warriors on Henry Miller’s cabin near the Rolling Fork in south Boyle. Elizabeth Miller and four children were killed, the family buried together, and the pursuing settlers led by Major Walker and Major Gray chased the attackers through southern Kentucky. The narrative ties the tragedy to frontier hardship and pioneer resolve, with later reflections on vanished cabins, graves, and memory.
