Black man fatally hurt in Bardstown Kentucky
John Stevens, a 25 year old white laborer, is jailed in Bardstown charged with fatally wounding Sam Bascom a Black man at 10 30 pm Saturday near Wilson and Muirs bank. Bascom aged about thirty quarrelled with Stevens earlier Sunday Bascom struck Stevens with a stone. Stevens fired a gun injuring Bascom in the abdomen. Bascom died hours later. Stevens claims self defense and awaits examining trial.
