In St. Rose neighborhood a young man named Leslie Newton lost his right arm when fingers were caught in rollers at a power cutting box near St. Catherine's. Surgeons Drs Robards and Hyatt amputated above the elbow around 3 pm. He is reported resting well and expected to recover.
Hugh M Noe of Chicago traveling for International Harvester leads with 17 machines sold in the week ending March 30 and 13 the following week. The 8S G S ball team won at Bardstown in a season opener with Springfield's Old Creeger and pitchers Spalding and Colvin shining. Batter hits included five by Bones, while Rev Dawson Rich Park and Leo supplied speed on the bases. Springfield's lineup featured Handy Colvin Simms Spalding Shaft Mediay Barber Last Simms Waters Barber Galen Sede. Bardstown umpire Steve Fulton officiated. Springfield and Bardstown meet again next Saturday.
About fifty hotel proprietors met to organize the Kentucky Hotel Association aiming to improve conditions in state hotels and secure fair legislation. The Seelbach dinner honored the new group as officers were elected including President Woorldon Moas Secretary W. Claybrooke and Treasurer E B Weitzel. Editor Sun explains county organizations formed to join the American Society of Equity. He lists unions Fenwick Mackville Willsburg Pulliam Tatham Allen Kirkland Mooresville Pleasant Grove Springfield Deep Creek Fredericktown Texas and Hendren with charter numbers and member counts. He urges neighbors to join, notes the society aims to influence farm prices and counters trust power, and pledges to stay in the fight.
Warns residents in districts with a stock law to keep stock off public highways. The Sheriff and deputies are charged with enforcing the rule. Signed by J. B. Osnourn, county official, urging community cooperation to avoid costs and trouble.

Ben Hardin recalls a daughter finding a shell within a shell egg chain up to four eggs. Monday morning fire alarm drew a crowd during county court, ending with the blaze in Andrew Cunningham’s dwelling quelled by Robt. Marks and Robt. Russell before the fire department arrived.
In the Nelson county Democratic primary held last Saturday, Sam Peters won the State Senate nomination by 352 votes over George Stoner and Nat McKay. Brown secured the Legislature nomination by 63 votes. Peters formerly lived in Mackville and has many friends there awaiting the news.
Owensboro faces a legal challenge after a 442 vote edge against prohibition in the city while the county went dry by more than 1,500. Prohibition advocates plan to seek a court ruling that saloon licensing remains barred across Owensboro based on countywide law and an 1906 amendatory act.
In Owensboro last Saturday the wets carried the day by 442 votes after a fierce campaign. Thousands of women and children marched with banners and prayers offered throughout. State whisky forces backed the wets with near perfect organization and the Negro vote played a prominent role. Owensboro hosts forty two saloons.
Webster Kentucky April 22 prohibition election held with polls open in all precincts. From fifteen precincts reported the dry vote 2372 to 546 wet. Two remaining precincts expected to raise the dry majority to at least 2000. About 75 percent of a full vote was cast.
Mr Woodson Moss proprietor of the Walton Hotel will leave May 15 for Winchester to manage the Brown Proctoria Hotel in Kentucky. He is regarded as a leading hotelman and was unanimously chosen president of the Kentucky Hotel Association. His brother in law H K Nobelett will arrive May 1 to take charge at the Walton. The Sun predicts a thriving business under the new manager.
Four of John and Mrs Hadad's children died in a house fire in East Fulton at 8:80 last night. The room where six children slept was a mass of flames. Two children were rescued while one girl and three boys perished. Mr and Mrs Hadad were badly burned. Mrs Hadad may not recover. The Hadads are Greeks and respected. cash held at home was largely recovered by firemen. The home of John May was also badly damaged in South Fulton.
Lebanon Enterprise reports a Commercial club meeting at city hall this evening to discuss oiling Main Street in the business district. Dust control is common in Kentucky towns and generally satisfactory. merchants would share a small cost for purchase of suitable material.
About fifty West End Republicans met at Pfister's Hall and organized the John W. Lewis Club. F L Wilson was elected president and W a Lained secretary. The club will meet weekly and support Lewis for governor as a non factional Republican candidate.
Rev R E Lawson was installed as pastor of the Presbyterian church on Sunday April 21 in a solemn service. Rev Frank B Clelland of New Providence preached an earnest sermon on The Testimony we have of the Truth of the Revealed Word of God citing Nature The Word Itself The Church and The Holy Spirit as witnesses. Dr A S Moffett led questions forming the pastoral relation and delivered a solemn charge to pastor and people. A large audience attended, the occasion notable for old friends greeting the new pastor and a desire for a lasting fruitful partnership.
Joseph C Polin son of Squire J C Polin near town graduated from the University of Louisville Law Department Monday evening. He led his class and earned both the Edward Thompson prize and the James W Fairleigh prize while being praised as an able lawyer and fine speaker. Squire J O Polin attended the commencement.
At a Kate Breckenridge Chapter Daughters of Confederate Veterans meeting in Danville Kentucky Congressman Augustus Owsley Stanley was named Decoration Day orator with Attorney George Foley Wycoff as alternate Wycoff of Mackville Kentucky is praised for prior Parks Hill Encampment remarks and plans to speak if Stanley cannot attend
Ed F. M. Bare of Lexington has been appointed pastor of the Christian church here. He preached last Sunday morning and evening. He will continue services for the next two Sundays, then move to Springfield by June 15 and will preach every Sunday thereafter.
Tilford Huff prescribes placing cayenne pepper wrapped in cloth into rodent holes to deter mice and rats. The pepper irritates the pests and drives them away, though neighbors may question its effectiveness and the outcome remains unclear.
