A large wood pile burned near Elma destroying about 75 cords of wood. No injuries reported and firefighting crews contained the blaze to the site. Fire officials investigated the cause and surrounding timber remains were salvaged.

Books of Knowledge arrived and will be kept until the new School opens. President Zeemer welcomed members and invited ideas for the year.

Mrs. Brown reported ongoing Cooking Classes with new Beginners and Second Year Classes. Mrs. Sneath became Health Convenor and offered to pursue a Dental Clinic. A new Adult Sewing Class was discussed with Extension Service potential involvement. The meeting adjourned after tea. next gathering set for Monday October 21.
A Winnipeg Hydro Old Timers and Pensioners group visited Pointe du Bois on Saturday April 4 and hosted a picnic with children’s events at the power plants. Winners included J Spa dini and V Hawkes in Tiny Tots, V Patton and B Lodge among 5-6s, with multiple names listed for ages up to 16 and various races and novelty contests.

John Engel, owner of John’s Taxi of Beausejour, was traveling nine miles west of Beausejour when his car slid off a slippery road to avoid a bus stopping for a passenger. Several trees had to be cut to free the auto, which was wedged in a clump of trees causing extensive damage.
