Ask Farmers List Unwanted Horses
Farmers who have not yet listed their surplus horses with the Horse Co operative Marketing association are urged to do so now by S F Shields secretary organizer. It is hoped to have the plant at Swift Current Sask opened early in October with a test run of 300 horses. Meat recovery on the test run will determine the basis of live grading. Initial payment to producers will be two cents per pound live weight with further payments as patronage dividends. The listing aims to establish a quota based on the 200000 surplus horses in Saskatchewan to allow equal chances to dispose of their stock at Swift Current and Edmonton plants.
