Wounded French Soldier Marcel Dupont Visits St George

Private Marcel Dupont of the French Army, held as a Dunkirk prisoner, toured St George visiting friends and relatives after returning home. He was injured in 19 places when an Allied plane machine gunned him in Germany in April, later liberated by the British. He plans to settle in St Hyacinthe, Quebec, with his wife and two daughters.

Three Despatch Riders sped through Lac du Bonnet Beausejour and Oakbank delivering Operational Orders Victory 9 for the ninth Victory Loan Campaign. Objectives were Lac du Bonnet 246000 Beausejour 127000 and Oakbank 170000 with riders designated top-priority signals. Additional despatches went to many other towns as part of the training mission.

Youthful Pine Falls Veteran Killed In Duck Shooting Accident

Twenty year old Arthur Menu of Pine Falls was found dead in a boat on the Winnipeg River in St George district after his shotgun fired as he reached for it while birds flew by. He was alone when the fatal shot wounded his neck. coroner said no inquest was needed. Menu, a Royal Canadian Air Force veteran, had served two years overseas and recently returned home.
