Winnipeg City Hydro expands Slave Falls plant capacity
Winnipeg’s municipally owned City Hydro advances the Slave Falls development on the Winnipeg River. The project extends the power house to 96 000 horsepower with four additional 12 000 horsepower units, aiming to have two units running by end of 1948 and final two by late 1947. Investment rises from about 7.14 million to 1 350 000.00 with associated 132 000 volt transmission upgrades and transformer work at Pointe du Bois and Sceland Avenue stations to deliver low cost power to Winnipeg.
