Beausejour Town Council approves several budget changes

At Beausejour Mayor L J Pulfer and councillors Wilgosh Larson Larson Kaatz and Szajowski held a regular meeting. Motions passed include ending free electricity for advertising signs and paying 1000 dollars annually to the Electric Light and Power Department for street lights. Farmers Discuss Non-Delivery Strike Support in District

In Tyndall on September 30 Labour Progressive Party members chaired a district meeting on a farmer non-delivery strike. William Kardash urged action against wheel agreements, while C Bar Cay warned against benefits from strike. A district vote showed about half in favor with limited enthusiasm. a small organizing committee formed as the meeting adjourned.

The bridesmaid was Lilian Derkson groomsman Wilfred Sheldon, and they left for Medicine Hat and Calgary to begin their new life in Winnipeg.

North-Eastern Teachers’ Association Fall Conventions 1946

The North-Eastern Teachers Association announces one day local conventions at Lac du Bonnet on October 4 Beausejour on October 10 and Hadashville on October 18 with a general Beausejour meeting on October 11 at the Town Hall. Mr C K Rogers Chief Inspector and Prof David Owens United College will give the convention theme. A Grade V demonstration will be presented.

Ducks and deer reports from Manitoba hunts

Mrs. Howard Leith notes a brisk shooting spell with Axel Erickson and Bob Pearson returning from Hart Lake with twenty four ducks and three geese. Wind hindered duck shooting and many birds remained. In Lac du Bonnet area deer have been harvested as the season opens east of the Winning River. a white horse was mistaken for a deer and reported to authorities pending investigation.

Annual Meeting of Great Falls Recreation Club

Great Falls Recreation Club held its annual meeting in Anderson Hall on Friday September 27 with President R P McHaffie presiding. Officers were re elected with McHaffie as president Cobb as vice president and Reid as secretary treasurer. Nominating and badminton committees were formed and planning for the skating rink progressed. Gratitude was extended to H M Battram for the picture show and to George Kroeker for auditing the club’s books.

Farm strike meeting held in Lac du Bonnet hall

Labor Progressive Party activists gathered at Lac du Bonnet Community Hall on October 3 to hear speakers on the Alberta Saskatchewan farm strike. John Bersin accepted the chair after others declined. William Kardash read a letter from Dyson Carter and criticized Wheat Agreement and Wheat Board policy in line with Winnipeg Free Press editorials. Bill Ross outlined LLP aims and a resolution supporting the farmers strike was urged, with Max Krieshman and Arnold Sarapu backing the motion.
