Ladies' Bonspiel crowns Mrs Frederick rink champions

The Ladies' Bonspiel ended Tuesday March 2 with Mrs W Frederick's rink taking grand honors. Third Mrs W Roy second Mrs Ford lead Mary Ford. They win the Ladies' Curling trophy and four smaller cups. Local notes cover bowling, skating events, visits, and community congratulations.

Weekend visitors and homecoming noted in town

Wednesday marked the last day of a two month East trip. Lena Vanberg and Joyce Naiden stayed with Mr. and Mrs. Bob Parkes at Holiday Beach. Mrs. T. J Wood visited Winnipeg with sister Mrs. Fifer. Mrs. Gaulet of Bird River visited town. Glen Demeria returned home after months away.

School Lunch Talk Spurs Milk and Brown Bread Advice

Marjorie Tomlinson and Helen Coates of the Cooking Club gave a talk on School Lunches stressing hot lunches and milk. Helen urged brown bread and Marjorie encouraged milk with lunch and avoiding soft drinks.

Rose Proceviat hosts a birthday party on February 29 with gifts and guests including her brother Mike, Mrs Mary Sidorko and others.

Easter Special Fares Announced for Canadian Pacific Rail

W Horder Winnipeg general passenger agent announces Easter holiday low fares on Canadian Pacific lines. Fares are valid March 25 to 29 with return by March 30 midnight, or on first available train after March 30 on branch lines without March 30 service. Single fare and one third for round trip apply across all stations and all classes.

Friesian Heifer Sets Global Milk Record in Britain

A Friesian heifer named Craig het Rosan, owned by a Belfast farmer, produced 31 339 pounds of milk in 365 days at 4.76 percent butter fat. The yield equals 1 492 pounds of butter fat, a world record.
