Pine Falls Christmas Festivities Light Up Town

Pine Falls celebrated Christmas week with a outside loud speaker playing carols from Mr D A Johnston s restaurant while residents enjoyed the seasonal tunes. Reta Clements stationed with the Royal Canadian Navy at Halifax plans discharge soon. New parents Armand Menu of Smooth Rock Falls welcome son George Charles born December 16. Stag party hosted by Ken Mackie included young guests aged 3 to 5. Turkey shoot at Chateau Bowling Alleys yielded seven flight winners and cash prizes. Mrs E D R Bissett and grandchildren headed to Vancouver. Maisie Legall to rejoin RC A F service. Special Christmas services held at Pine Falls United and Anglican churches. Various locals and students returning for holidays. Engagement announced Betty Thibodeau to Eddie Gould.

Pine Falls Celebrates Christmas Daze and Cadets Honor

Christmas tree festivities and classroom gift exchanges mark Pine Falls school holiday events on December 21. Santa distributed presents at the school and skating rink, while Cadets hosted a Chateau party and officers awarded nursing certificates and marksmanship medals. The town mourns Mr. Irvine, whose daily kindness touched students, as holidays continue and best wishes go out for the New Year.

Ottawa weighs Canada par in abeyance amid loan talks

Officials in Ottawa expect the British par in Canada to stay in abeyance until a British Canadian loan conference in the new year. Negotiators who just finished a 4.4 billion dollar loan in Washington will pursue Canada loan sums from 0.5 to 1.5 billion. The Commons ratified the Tripartite Washington Agreement on atomic energy after Prime Minister Mackenzie King spoke on his birthday, urging world government over national sovereignty.

Death of Pinawa woman’s mother in Newfoundland

The mother of Mrs. Holmgren of Pinawa died at her Newfoundland home on December 7. She was 91 years old.

Morton. The Holmgreens to move to Vancouver Island received a purse. Holiday visitors included Mrs. Paulsen's relatives from Elphinston Hartney Winnipeg and Ruth Kenney of Morden. Yorda Lindgren, recently discharged from the RCAF, visited her sister and brother-in-law. Arni Anderson of Portage la Prairie visited Mrs. Anderson's parents, with the McLeans also in attendance.
