Two youthful men robbed The State Bank of Ohio Station in Bureau County shortly after 11 am, escaping with about $1500. They wore gray outfits and used a large calibre automatic and a revolver, leaving through a side door as patrons were forced to vault indoors. Authorities pursued via Princeton and Dixon, with several farmers spotting the Buick coupe.

Victor Bertrand Dies at 63 in Spring Valley
Victor Bertrand a 63 year old Spring Valley resident died at his East Iowa street home on Monday night from uremic poisoning. Born in Belgium on April 1 1860 he moved to France and married in 1883 before emigrating to the United States in 1888. He lived in Seneca before settling in Spring Valley where he worked in mines and fished until retirement twelve years ago. He left seven children Clarence Louis Leonard Leo Victoria and Mrs Clementine Condie of this city and Mrs Leone Krinivitch of South Chicago one sister Mrs Leon Leroi of Silvis and two brothers and a sister in Belgium. His wife died in 1919. The funeral was Thursday at 2 pm with burial in Miller cemetery.

Kewanee Woman Burned to Death in Home Disaster
Mrs. Lawrence Henning, 26, died after a kerosene stove exploded in her Kewanee home on Saturday. Her young son was severely burned and rushed to hospital. he remains in grave condition as rescuers pulled them from the blaze. A passerby named Young heard the screams and saved them both.
