Mrs Sam Kepper of Lacon tried to end her life by taking bichloride of mercury at Howe Monday afternoon. She was rushed to St Margaret's hospital where Dr McShane washed the poison from her system. Rock Island Conductor Loses Both Feet in Fog Incident

An unexplained gas explosion at the Walter Anderson home in Marseilles killed Joseph Pattison and Joseph Effner and seriously injured Walter Anderson and Mrs. Anderson.
