Building Campaign Opens for Morning Side College
Rev O M Bond returned from a trustees meeting at Morning Side College Sioux City where a building campaign was launched to raise 250000. The project includes rebuilding the main hall with central heating a gymnasium a ladies dormitory and Schapel planned for completion by Sept 10 1912. Death in Diphtheria Claims Gillett Grove Child
The four year old son of Mr and Mrs James Johinson near Gillett Grove died of diphtheria last Saturday and was buried in the Gillett Grove cemetery Sunday. A brief service was held by Rev Wolcoui of Dickens after the burial. This is the second child in the family to suffer the disease. the other had recovered. The News extends heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved parents.

Mrs. Anna S Edwards Powell Dies in Nebraska Home
Mrs. Anna S Edwards Powell died at a Spencer Iowa hospital on Tuesday morning June 11 after a long life spent in Wisconsin Nebraska and Iowa. She leaves five children adopted son Royal and many relatives. Her funeral at the Spencer Baptist Church drew a large crowd with a pastor Rev C G D Walter delivering a sermon on Christian virtues.

Canadian Family Visits Dyrhkopp Home From Weyburn
Mr and Mrs C Hy Mrencan and their children from Weyburn Canada are spending a month at the Dyrhkopp home. They arrived Saturday.
Annual Meeting of Congregational Church Reports Growth
The Congregational church held its annual meeting last Thursday with a supper for about 60 members. The secretary announced the largest church membership ever, solid finances, and all running expenses paid. Sunday offerings totaled 2070.28 with 822.82 on hand. denominational benevolences reached 150. Enrollment in the Sunday School is 274 with 174 in attendance and 0.3 per Sunday in offerings. The Sunday School treasurer reported a strong year with all bills paid to July 1 and 830 on hand. The Sunday School has launched a Lud park project raising 2700. The Ladies Aid reduced organ indebtedness by 350. The church is debt free except for a small parish debt.
