Clay County School Picnics Report Highlights

A Clay Township gathering near Royal featured a large program with nine graduates and many student performances. Rev. O M Bond spoke as attendees enjoyed meals, rides, and prizes. Riverton and district picnics showcased dozens of schools with diplomas, orations, songs, drills, and recitations.

The Waterford community hosted a hearty picnic with a warm welcome that made guests feel at home. Four graduates delivered successful afternoon orations while the fore noon program impressed. The Brownies by district five captivated the crowd, prompting a repeat performance. The lineup included songs, dialogue, and recitations featuring local schools Hillcrest Bee.n Goldenrod O¢heyden Plainview and Saniy? the Village Blacksmith and more.

Graduation Roars Across Three Townships Amid Prized Orations

In Gillet Grove and Logan June 8 a large crowd gathered for graduation exercises. Twelve graduates at Moore’s precinct delivered orations and recitations, with strong performances by Elizabeth Collins and Mary Wilbur among others. Willow Creek districts in Six and Ive held five graduates in a separate ceremony, capped by an address from Rev. O. M. Bond and diploma presentations by Miss Miley. Summit Township also celebrated seven graduates with orations and diplomas in the Evangelical church, led by Rev. Bond and Stiss Riley.

Mrs T P Powell dies this morning

A wave of sadness grips the community as Mrs. T P Powell quietly passes after a recent operation. She died about seven o'clock this morning, leaving family and friends in deep sorrow. Funeral will be held Thursday at the Baptist church with a fuller notice coming next week.

Boys in order outing walk to Marcellus place for supper

The boys of the order followed their creed and walked to the Marcellus place south of town where they cooked their own supper. Leader IL. d. Bick joined them in the early evening as they plan several marching trips for future Weir work.

Invitation To the Country Sunday School Outing

Mrs Helen McCord lead twenty eight Sunday school members to the county home of Mrs Wil Tagan for a trip south of town yesterday afternoon. Autos were provided through Mrs McCord with aid from Tr. McCord. A pleasant supper was enjoyed and a rare afternoon's pleasure was afforded.

Miss Jennie Oliver Plans Midwest Trip and Home Visit

Miss Jennie Oliver left early last week for Minneapolis and St Paul. She will take a boat trip to Davenport with the Slommands this week. After returning north she will go to Waupun Wisconsin to visit relatives. Her father James Oliver said they will return to Spencer Lovether. Mr. Oliver has not visited Waupun for about forty years.

Former Spencer Girl Weds Sanford Pickering in Salem Oregon

Announcement lists N. Blanche Ford, once a Spencer Girl, marrying Sanford Pickering formerly of Greenville. The bride serves as pastor of the Friends church at Salem Oregon and Pickering has held a pastorate in the region.

Children’s Day in the Churches Observed at Congregational Church

A large crowd attended Children’s Day exercises at the Congregational Church with moral decorations music and a program by the children. A primary class of twenty two graduated and many pupils received gold pins for perfect attendance over one year.
