Sayre sets Valley decathlon record at McAndrew Stadium
John Sayre, SIUC Salukis decathlete, broke the Missouri Valley Conference decathlon mark with 7,431 points at McAndrew Stadium. The 20-year-old, previously a pole vaulter turned decathlete after brain surgery, aims for NCAA titles and the 1984 Olympic team, crediting his gymnastics background and teammate David Lee for motivation.
