SIUC Faces Further Faculty Cuts Amid Budget Pressures
SIUC faces 2.3 million more reductions, targeting eight to ten positions mainly in English and mathematics due to non tenure protections. Negotiations with Guyon and IBHE guidance shape which units bear the cuts, while high demand areas like Law and Engineering avoid reductions. Tenured departments shield planning but risks include larger class sizes and fewer course offerings.
