Financial Ills Cited By Sparta Hospital Board

Sparta Community Hospital marked its first year with a slim margin and a need for immediate arrangements to stay viable. Administrator Hugh McChristian cited a summer slump reducing patient load, with operating costs around 10 500 dollars monthly and only 9 000 dollars in annual property taxes, while a new wing readies. The board eyed working capital but offered no concrete plan as the tally shows 763 patients in year one, excluding 150 newborns and 573 patients for lab work or therapy.
