Pilot's lawyer accuses Air Force of lying over dropping charges
In New Orleans, a lawyer for Maj Harry Schmidt says the Air Force secretly keeps manslaughter and aggravated assault charges while claiming they were dropped after a general recommended nonjudicial punishment. Runaway train cars derail east of Los Angeles
In Commerce California a line of 31 railroad cars broke loose in a switching yard near Montclair and rolled nearly 30 miles at speeds up to 70 mph before workers derailed them to avert a downtown Los Angeles disaster.
