Illinois cigarette tax hike to 98 cents per pack
Illinois will raise the state cigarette tax to 98 cents a pack on July 1, boosting revenue by about 230 million dollars and expected to save roughly 26,300 lives. Officials say teen smoking will drop, with about 50,000 teens not starting, while some adults may quit or cut back.
