Attorneys Claim Signatures Block Recall Vote in West Frankfort
Attorney for West Frankfort city commissioners Burton Melvin and Paul Rive argues about 150 detective signatures appear invalid on each recall petition. He said enough signatures are in doubt to possibly derail the election, with subpoenas to about 60 signers and 43 petition carriers. The Franklin County hearing will test signatures’ sufficiency, not charges, and potential witnesses include 200 to 300 people.
