Sparta Court Allows Sale of A. A. Brown Home for Museum
Circuit Judge Harold Farmer ruled to permit the city of Sparta to sell the former A. A. Brown home on Market street and use proceeds to build a Brown Memorial Museum addition to the Sparta Public Library. The will left the building to the city with $20,000 for maintenance, but Judge Farmer found the current structures unsuitable for a museum and costly to remodel. The General Telephone Co. plans to buy the site to clear it for a new building. The sale was approved in Randolph Circuit Court on May 24 with no objections from the estate administrators.
