Eisenhower comments on Cuba invasion and air power
Former President Dwight D. Eisenhower said an invasion of Cuba could not succeed without opposing air power and defended prior efforts to assist Cuban refugees. He noted no advance plan existed for an invasion and that refugees were prepared only if a viable opportunity appeared. The remarks followed a Kennedy administration stance on a tractors-for-prisoners proposal, as Eisenhower toured Cincinnati amid heat and crowds.
