Stocks mixed as slowdown fears mount on jobs data
Wall Street ended the week with small moves after May job gains of 75,000, far below April’s 126,000, fueling questions about the economy’s health and a potential pause in Fed rate hikes. Analysts warned energy costs and inflation risks remain. The Dow slipped 12.41 points to 11247.87 while the S&P 500 rose modestly and the Nasdaq edged lower. The 10 year yield fell to 5.0 percent as optimism about an easing cycle grew.
