Hospitals Seek End of State Health Finance Authority
The Illinois Hospital Association urges elimination of the Illinois Health Finance Authority, saying it has failed to deliver results since 1978. About 300 hospitals support its dissolution when its creating legislation expires in October 1982, unless the Legislature votes to extend it. Authority officials blame the association for slow progress, while the agency defends its pace and anticipates a possible extension. The agency operates with a $1 million annual budget.
