Federal judge dismisses Cheney energy task force suit
U S District Judge John Bates rejected a bid by Comptroller General David Walker to compel details of meetings between Vice President Cheney energy task force members and industry executives and lobbyists while drafting the administration energy plan. Bates said the suit raises separation of powers questions and that the comptroller general lacks a concrete injury. He noted no congressional subpoena or authorization existed for the action. Democratic reps Waxman and Dingell had sought information in 2001 about meeting participants.
