Dynegy seals deal to curb Illinois mercury emissions
Dynegy Inc reached an agreement with Illinois to aggressively cut mercury and other pollutants at five coal burning plants in Alton and Randolph County. The pact speeds up pollution controls under a 2005 consent decree, with Dynegy committing about 118 million dollars from 2009 to 2015 plus 675 million previously budgeted, aiming to make its plants among the cleanest in the nation while avoiding emissions trading for sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides.
