Carlo Falcone 34, indicted for the slaying of Robert Hall 44, loses a petition to use county funds for a psychiatrist other than Dr Harry Hoffman. Judge John A. Sbarbaro sets September 5 for a sanity hearing. Hall named Falcone as slayer in a death bed statement. Falcone, linked to the 1734 West Worth Avenue homicide, was nabbed after a nationwide search and returned from New York on a fugitive warrant.

Wayne W. Wallace of 8454 Dante Ave was elected president of the Illinois Moose association by delegates at the eighth annual convention in Waukegan. Six year old Arden Leavitt died after running into a car driven by Dr. Jerome Kaiser at Cottage Grove avenue and 73rd street. He suffered a skull fracture and internal injuries and died at Jackson Park Hospital. An inquest at Carl J. Adams funeral home was adjourned to September due to conflicting testimony on the crash corner. Funeral services will be held at 72nd street and Ellis avenue with burial at Evergreen cemetery.

More than 8000 Southeast side residents are expected at an outdoor music festival next Sunday at 6 30 p m in Bessemer park near 9th Street and South Chicago. The South Chicago Chamber of Commerce sponsors the event with Chicago Park District and South Chicago Y M C A support. Community groups include choral societies drum and bugle corps glee clubs string ensembles barbershop quartets and nationalistic groups in native costumes performing folk songs and dances.

Platform gate to begin use at Bryn Mawr station
The Illinois Central will install a platform gate at Bryn Mawr on its South Chicago branch as an accident prevention test.
