Burglars struck Summit three times this week beginning with Burdine's store on Sunday evening taking pipes and tobacco. Monday night targeted Mr Brustuen's home, though nothing yet appears missing.
Summit Signal reports a burglary at Hanson the shoe man’s shop while he was at supper. A placard on Brustuen’s safe warned burglars it was open, but burglars blew nothing up. Seven dollars were missing from Hanson’s shop.
Aberdeen D D Aug 18 business leaders fear Milwaukee Road purchase of 480 acres near Groton 18 miles east may force new division shops and extensive trackage away from Aberdeen. Rumors speak of a temporary division HQ but sources say the shops may move. if true Aberdeen could lose many jobs. Also two fatal lightning incidents reported when a shower struck Peter Pederson’s farm eight miles southwest killing Magnus Johnson and a young man named Nelson. Albert Barkee’s barn near Ortonville burned with four miles from town with family and servant stunned but unharmed. loss about 1500 dollars.
John A. Johnson was nominated on Wednesday for the third time to govern Minnesota amid wild enthusiasm and a convention that forced the nomination upon him despite his absence of a statement. Friends expect he will feel compelled to accept the nomination.
A circulated petition requests restoring last year’s timetable arguing the old service was better for riders. It claims the current schedule makes a daytime through eastbound train impossible without an overnight stay in Milbank.

Bernice McGowan returns home to Milbank after visiting the M W Gorman family. Harry Henry's three month stay in Walworth ends as he works at Walker's livery barn. Carl Knudtson and Carl Jorgersson families spend Wednesday at the lake. The Presbyterian Ladies Circle hosted a surprise event.
