A French minister of war rejects aluminum as a heat material for army utensils citing huge costs and limited supply. Initial use will cover two army corps, then expand gradually. Aluminum had shown promise in Madagascar, being light and durable. Also mentions Hood's Sarsaparilla sales and fruit can prices, plus a registration notice for elections in Nevada with altered dates and hours.
Voter registration for the November general election is open daily on legal days from 9 to 6 and additional hours from 7 to 9. Naturalized citizens must present papers. Humboldt County notices list numerous Silver party candidates for county offices subject to voters at the ensuing election.
