Advertises cod liver oil emulsion with glycerine and hypophosphites claiming to soothe strengthen and possibly cure weak lungs and coughs. Encourages immediate purchase from druggists at one dollar per bottle from Scott and Bowne New York.
The advertisement promotes Chamberlain's Eye and Skin Nourient for eczema acne tetter and other skin diseases with fast relief. It also claims benefit for itching piles sore nipples chapped hands chilblains frost bites and chronic sore eyes. Dr Cady's Condition Powders are recommended as a tonic blood purifier and vermifuge for horses.
A Kingston Jamaica special reports five thousand U. S. troops landed near Santiago under Sampson guns with heavy cannonading heard at Fort Aguadores. Advices say bombardment continued at 1 30 in the afternoon. Sampson negotiates exchange of Hobson party for Spanish prisoners at Fort McPherson. Also includes advertisements for Mrs Winslow's Soothing Syrup and Cascarets.
Leading papers laud the Merrimac explosion as a brilliant strategic feat and commend Cervera's chivalry in relation to the capture of Lieutenant Hobson and his men.
Dispatches from Dewey report insurgents gaining several victories over Spain in Cavite Province. Fifty officers and eighteen hundred men were captured. Mixed town notices include Mrs. Anderson’s arrival at Battle Mountain and a millinery display at Second Street, plus medical and bicycle ads from Silver City and local merchants.
The notices promote reduced prices on shirts at actual cost with display in a large window by E. Beixaart & Co and a skilled mechanic at the branch offering guaranteed work. Also advertised are refrigerators from E. Remnant & Co, Cascarets Candy Cathartic from Cascarets, and Laird Shober Co shoes with a full line. Brown & Biggs carries McCormick mowers and farm rakes.
A condensed warning lists duties of subscribers including notice to discontinue, responsibility for uncollected bills, and moving without informing the publisher. It warns that refusing to take papers, or letting subscriptions run unpaid and then refusing payment, can lead to arrest and fines under postal law.
