Postmaster Ferree laments frequent school children visiting the post office for mail up to four or five times daily. He urges parental guidance to curb indiscriminate trips and notes lost letters from pockets and mishandled mail. He suggests limiting office visits to once or twice daily to protect patrons and mail.
T J Alspaugh returned Tuesday from a week long trip through Colorado and Texas. He inspected his Texas land near Delhart and noted crops there are much better than in Western Missouri and some other western areas.
William Price attended a reunion of Witner and Mary Price’s children in Plymouth last Sunday. Siblings include two sons William and Emanuel and three daughters Mrs Samuel Lovely of Denver, Mrs Henrys Reynolds, and Mrs Benjamin Cale of Plymouth. The oldest is 67 and the youngest 49. Mrs Lovely visits with Mr Price for a week. The Hill home near town has been a hospital recently as Typhoid fever affects Isel the second daughter and three others have been ill but not expected to progress to typhoid.

Mrs G A Me lure and daughter Therese with Miss Mabel Salur return Thursday from a trip east. They toured Philadelphia landmarks then New York City viewing lights and grandeur. They traveled by steamer to Norfolk and visited the Jamestown exposition before Washington DC sights and parks.

Joshua Bussard of near Rose Hill reported a valuable horse died after its leg became trapped under a stall door. While struggling to rise the leg broke and the horse was shot by George Snure, costing Bussard $187 in a recent purchase.
Given Kneer Smith son of Francis and Margaret Holmes Smith born June 19 1838 in Rockbridge county Virginia moved to Piqua Ohio in 1844 served as private in Company 8B 50th Ohio Vol Infantry enlisted August 1 1862 discharged April 8 1863 married Adila Ann Long November 19 1863 died September 19 1907 at 1 20 p m after two weeks of illness. Funeral held at U B church September 19 1907 with O O F and G A R honors burial at Lakeview cemetery. He left wife three daughters one son and many relatives.
Relatives and friends from out of town attended the funeral. Names listed include James Smith Atwood Charles Long Mrs Adila Roop Mrs Bertha Beck Frank Long Mrs Sarah Conway and others from Garrett City Claypool and Millersburg with additional attendees mentioned.

The Silver Lake Lodge No 576 I O O F records resolutions honoring Brother Given K Smith who was a faithful member and patriotic citizen. The charter will be draped in mourning for 30 days and copies are sent to his family and the Silver Lake Record. Committee members John L Arthur Leonard W Price.
Miss Roxie Linn resigns from Pearson restaurant and plans a week at home in Claypool before moving to Ft Wayne to study stenography and typewriting. She will enter a business college to pursue the course.
Eastman Kodak Supplies Cline Co notes the Missionary convention at the M E church with a fair audience each session. Mider Holli peter delivered an afternoon discourse on missionaries while evening speakers Rev Hill Holipeter Work spoke and Miss Bess Work sang solo. Reports show a successful year in the mission field.
Myron Landis of Carrington North Dakota reports the August 16 hailstorm destroyed all his grain with losses between 4000 and 5000 dollars and notes that county wide damages reach about 1.5 million dollars with half of farmers uninsured. He details securing seed wheat, difficulty finding oats, high feed costs, and extensive plowing of 260 acres with plans for 500 more before freeze.
Hiram Rager closed a deal with Alvin Robinson of Warsaw last week gaining the west side Jefferson street brick business building and moving his grocery stock inside. Robinson obtained the Rager property in the exchange.
