D. H Kain, an instrument man with the Reclamation Service last spring and summer, left Sunday for Portland Oregon. Mrs Kain will join him soon. They plan to visit major Pacific coast towns before settling in Snohomish Washington for the winter where he will work for the Electric Railway Co.

An aged resident of near Rose Hill, Solomon Weaver, died Monday evening. Born May 16, 1824 in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, he was 83 years old. He leaves three brothers, eight surviving children, and a long life as a stone mason and farmer. Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Eel River church west of North Manchester conducted by Rev. Samuel Leckrone.
Emanuel Leckrone returned from Bacon county Colorado after ten days filing a claim on a quarter section. He praises the country climate soil and outlook for pioneers. Koscuisko county residents have begun settling there to secure farms as private land sales rise. Locals locating include Clarence Ball Charley Ball Roy Rowland J. F. Leckrone Irvin Leckrone Ben Hereendeen and a Mr. Blickenstaff.
Alspaugh and Babcock bought the building adjoining the Pearson restaurant on the west. They will fit it up temporarily for their buggy business until spring when they plan to construct a suitable room for the purpose.
Mrs. E. E. Wright arrived home yesterday from St. Vincent hospital Indianapolis where she recovered rapidly from an operation for bowel obstruction and appendicitis performed September 14.
Rev Daugherty of Wabash and C X Anderson of the Cox Andrews firm Feru came here Monday to fish at the lake for a week with or near local residents sighted on the shore.

Edward M Clink writes from Churches Ferry North Dakota detailing a cross country trip starting August 18 from Claypool to Chicago two days sightseeing at Reverview Park White City Union Stock Yards and a visit to Fort Snelling. He describes prairie lands and wheat belt towns and notes earning wages shocking grain and operating a separator with board.
Mrs. J. A. Meek returns from Tiosa to stay a few days and notes Mr. Meek remains in serious condition. He has scarcely risen since going to Tiosa nearly three weeks ago and grown weak. Doctors fear the cancerous growth on his lip has spread, threatening his life despite treatment. The piece then offers a moral homily on making home cheerful and supportive to avoid fault finding among family members.
Miss don Wiltrout went to Chicago Monday to serve as private secretary for Mrs Besser of New York. Mrs Besser, a noted reformer, works to uplift working girls and women in factories and sweat shops and remains in close touch with Helen Gould in benevolent efforts.
Two hundred one tickets were sold at the Big Four station for the North Manchester fair. Rain on the final day cut potential sales, nearly reaching three hundred.
