An insane fanatic fired a bullet as a colonel moved from a hotel to an auditorium, shocking onlookers and prompting a security response. Police investigated the motive and secured the area.
Edna Drudge, daughter of Mr and Mrs Frank Drudge living east of Claypool, suffered a double fracture of the left leg when a large care toppled onto her during Sunday morning events.
The death of Mr Botkin is reported due to a burst blood vessel that developed gangrene. Funeral services are scheduled for today.
