Five boys rummaged through the Pearson residence Tuesday night seeking valuables. Names are known but withheld from print. Parents need not be surprised if the youths are questioned by authorities over this and other scrapes.
Mr and Mrs A H Bowen of Wabash visited the W E Wood home on Sunday and Monday. Mr Bowen came to register as this is his voting place.
A son weighing ten pounds was born Thursday of last week to Mr and Mrs Arthur Tracy residing east of town. Both mother and child are in good condition at present though Mr Tracy is recovering from a stroke.
New teacher Miss Lillian Grant arrives from Wabash on Monday to begin work in music and drawing. She boards at the Evard Maggart home as she settles into the school.
Mrs. H. A. Stickel and daughter Mary plan to move from their farm southeast of town to Peru as their future home. The Stickel farm will be occupied by Mr. and Mrs. Ed Drudge.
Charles Young on rural route three is on a fifteen day vacation that began last Thursday. Deputy James Harter is covering the route during Mr. Youngs absence.
A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Roy Burdge last Saturday afternoon. The infant named Margaret Lucile is reported healthy. Parents and baby are doing well and doctors expect a swift recovery for the Burdge family patriarchs after the recent illness.
A sizable audience gathered at the Claypool tabernacle this week as Rev. Bumgardner delivered excellent sermons. The meeting attracted attendees from this area, with the venue reportedly scarcely able to hold the crowd.
Miss Edna Brown traveled to South Whitley last Saturday to take a job at the McGlennen restaurant.
Representative E W Maggert attended the Grand Lodge session in Indianapolis as the Knights of Pythias representative to the grand judge.

J. F. Oldfather and Rudolph Michaels hosted a joint birthday anniversary dinner near Sidney for George Michaels and Mr. Oldfather. The pair, born on the same day but 21 years apart, began celebrating together years ago and continue the annual event with a shared supper and good wishes.
The second institute of the teachers of the township gathers Saturday at the high school. The program lists opening exercises, history and geography topics, vocational education, U S history by grade level, Indiana geography, village and rural educational resources, and a question on work ethics led by Mrs. Hanes. Secretary Bessie Carr concludes with miscellaneous notes.
Joseph Fritz a 35 year old German was killed instantly Sunday morning when struck by a west bound Erie passenger train while working on the Servia school house a short distance east of Bolivar.
Attendees including Mr. and W. F. Elelser traveled to Columbia City on Tuesday to attend the funeral of Mrs. Caroline Horn, a cousin of Mrs. Helser, who died from stomach cancer.
John A. Lynch of Bear Akron and Miss Hazel E. Kline near here were married in Warsaw by Reverend J S Cain last Thursday. The bride is daughter of Mr and Mrs Lando Kline, a refined young woman. The groom, a farmer and auctioneer, is esteemed. The Recomp extends congratulations.
A nine pound son named Max Elder Beigh was born to Vr. and Mrs. Earl Beigh of Claypool on Wednesday September 30. The birth makes Mr. George Hammer the town's great grandfather.
The S T Club gave a surprise party for Iva McKrill at the McKrill home on Monday evening. Lucy Underhill also celebrated a birthday the following day. The gathering was lively and the girls departed late.
County Superintendent Edson B. Sarber of Warsaw spent Wednesday visiting local schools. He offered encouragement to instructors and expressed pleasure with the progress being made.

A dispute between Charles Hammon and Ed Snyder on Monday forenoon at the Noah Hammon building in Fairview addition led to Hammon striking Snyder twice. Snyder traveled to Warsaw, but no further developments have occurred.
Ira Sham baugh, Ed Sham baugh, Reed Sham baugh of Wabash spent Monday at Silver Lake after a week long fishing trip at Wawasee. They praised the town and lake and expect to return in a few weeks.
In Pleas ant township Wabash county last Saturday Albert Leffel was nominated to the office of trustee. He is described as an honorable upright citizen residing southeast of town and well known locally with the competence to manage the office if elected.
On Monday a large crowd gathered for registration with about three hundred twenty registered in the township. Roughly fifty voters failed to register and will not be able to vote in the upcoming election.
Elmer Renberger of the southeast of Wabash traveled to town Wednesday to bargain for the Bolin farm located southwest of town and is expected to move onto the property in the near future.

Hiram Haney and his wife with uncle Johun Kerlin, residents of the Mary Jamison farm near Claypool, are arranging to return to their property in the east part of town as soon as possession is obtained.

Items listed include peck of potatoes 64 cents five pounds sugar 1 00 four dozen eggs 80 cents and twenty two pounds of coffee 1 00 with other staples such as rice raisins apples and lard among charges.

Summe family plans moving to Plymouth this week. John Mathews of Swayzee visiting local friends. Ladies aid society met at J E Rowland home Tuesday afternoon. Mrs Jacob Teeter and her mother were on Our Streets last Sunday.
