Miss Lula Sprigg leaves Wisconsin for Oneida to teach at the Indian school on the Oneida Reservation. Locals wish her success and expect to hear from her within a year for a future notice.
A group from this place travelled to Wabash on Sunday to see the football matchup between Wabash and Elkhart teams.
Mr and Mrs Philip Hill and their two sons visited relatives in and around Silver Lake last week. They also planned a short stay of a couple of days in North Manchester during the trip.
Embroidery club members were entertained at the home of Mrs. J. D. Cline on North Jefferson Street Tuesday evening for a six o'clock dinner honoring her birthday anniversary.
The Roann band with several boosters toured town on Monday to advertise booster days in Roann planned for Friday and Saturday of next week. They played a few tunes before heading to North Manchester.
Daniel Perry and family along with Mr and Mrs J Corns and Mr and Mrs Albert Ross visited the A F Priser home northeast of town on Sunday. Samuel Clink also called in the afternoon and all departed for home late in the day.
Esta Gresso Alvin Carr and George Butterbaugh are among residents who have installed furnaces in their homes in the past couple of weeks. A furnace is also being installed in the Murphy home west of town.
Several members of the S T club gathered at the home of Miss Mable Haney last evening for a very pleasant time.
Twin brothers Robert and Rolland Lambert, 13 months old, died of cholera infantum at home near Logansport. Their bodies were taken to Roan for burial. The Lambert family, formerly of Roan Roano Clarion, includes Mr. Lambert a well known local figure and brother to Mack Lambert.
Contractor C. M. Wederick expects the North Jefferson Street sewer to be finished by Thursday evening. The town board earns praise for hiring Wederick and delivering the project.
Highway Commissioner Iziah Hoover from North Manchester visited Tuesday to inspect a sink hole on the county line road southwest of town in Wabash County.
The Center Sunday School class was entertained at Mrs. John Rowland’s home. Attendees included Marie Carr, Ottie Price, Lottie Price, Gladys Hill, Mary Hill, Maurice Aker, Dean Aker, Claire Brown, David Timberman, and Ernest Lewick. Guests from outside the class were Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Price with their daughter Wanetta, Reuben Kline, and Guy Aker.
The great North Manchester fair is in full force with ideal weather and attendance higher than in past years. Tomorrow Friday is the day the automobile is to be given away and attendance is expected to peak.
Large crowds attend daily tabernacle meetings in Claypool this week. A special program is planned for next Sunday afternoon and evening.

The Gresso road dispute has been appealed to the circuit court and will be heard soon. Petitioners won the county decision, and the appeal was filed Thursday morning of last week. Both sides promise a hard legal fight with determined efforts to prevail.
Walter Stout returned to Indiana Polis Wednesday morning to rejoin his studies and complete the medicine course.
Gordon Jontz and Dean Hill came back from Canada late last week. They report plenty of work in the Dominion with more hands than needed. They quote a fair yield this year with wheat averaging 18 to 20 bushels per acre.
Charles Jontz arrived home yesterday after working in Canada during the summer.

Mrs. Kate Rosebrook of White Pigeon has reportedly gone insane after being injured in a tent collapse at Sturgis Michigan during the Hugenbeck Wallace show. She is formerly Miss Kate Blue and is well known in the area, having visited here with Miss Alda Lukens years ago.
Voters must register this year to vote in November. Registration occurs Monday October 5 from 6 AM to 9 PM at county precinct booths. Absent voters may use blanks. others must attend in person. Emphasizes the importance of registering.
Glenn Tullis has moved onto the H. E. Regenus farm west of town and now occupies part of the house with Mr and Mrs Regenus.
William Secore has moved onto the H. G. Jontz farm east of town and will be employed by Mr. Jontz. He is described as an excellent person and the right man for the place.
The Gause concert band with the Gause carnival company visited North Manchester fair this week and played two selections Monday afternoon. The twenty six Italian musicians perform a wide range of music under Mr. Gause who conducts the carnival and oversees all shows. He previously lived in Roann before entering the carnival business.
The reunion of the 12th Indiana regiment will be held in Warsaw on Wednesday and Thursday October 7 and 8. Many members reside here or nearby and are expected to attend. Reud Williams, longtime editor of the Northern Indians, served as colonel of the regiment.
Myron Murphy notes a car load of No 1 winter apples will be on the siding at Silver Lake depot around October 12.
Mr. and Mrs. Morris Lipley returned home from Columbiana Ohio after a lengthy visit with relatives. They cut the trip short due to their son Ezra’s illness. Lipley notes plentiful apples but they cannot fetch more than thirty to forty cents per bushel.
Robert Dillman of Battle Ground is improving from his recent illness and hopes for a full recovery. His mother Mrs William Dillman of this place went to Battle Ground a week ago to assist in caring for him.
H. E. Regenos has purchased the Esta Grosso property in the north part of town and plans to move to Silver Lake in a few weeks.
A LaFontaine pair, J A Leckrone and his wife, are on a westward trip. They arrived in Williston North Dakota and stayed with Roscoe and Minnie Self. They plan a ten day to two week stay and may visit Silver Lake on the return journey.
George Ayers, farming near West Leb, sends a payment remittance for July next year and shares his busy life. He manages 340 acres of land with plans for 140 more corn acres, 4000 bushels of corn, and seed gathering. He notes 14 good horses, two daughters Erica and Helen, and a pony for schooling. He asks to be written to during the busy season.
Music and drawing teacher Miss Lillian Grant of Wabash visited on Tuesday and arranged to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Miss Lulu Sprigg.
The honorable town board will hold a regular session tomorrow Friday evening. Members are expected to discuss local matters and public concerns.
Noah Hamman started work on a new house in the Fairview addition. Materials are being hauled in Monday and the foundation wall is being rebuilt with plans to complete the house this fall.
C A Pearson purchased the Leonard property on Sycamore and plans extensive repairs next spring after living there for several years.
The Delta Pondella class of the U B Sunday School met with Misses Dora and Nora Dillman Monday evening September 21 1914. After business they shared conversation and songs and were served refreshments. They sang Save by Grace and repeated The Lord's Prayer then left to meet again in four weeks with Miss Mary Clymer.
William Dillman attended the funeral of Walter Dilman at the Brick church west of North Manchester. Walter, a nephew, was over twelve and had undergone an operation in Huntington hospital several weeks prior to his death. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Dillman and described as a bright energetic boy.
George Rider, who lives west of town, arrived home Monday after working with a threshing crew in North Dakota during the harvest season.
Roy Helser came home last Thursday after spending threshing season in North Dakota. He notes the crops were not quite as good as in past years and reflects on the season's outcomes.
Joel W Walburn plans a move for his family and household effects to North Manchester next week. The notice notes relocation logistics and timing for the Walburn household.
William Stickel arrived last Friday from Hobi Michigan. He plans to stay the latter part of this week or the first part of next week.
