Influenza cases improve but schools and churches remain closed for a month. No public gatherings or social events have occurred as residents work to prevent spread. All influenza patients are recovering, and officials hope to lift the ban soon to restore normal life.
A Tuesday forenoon blaze destroyed the store and residence of A. A. Mendel in Palestine. Both buildings burned to the ground with contents lost. Origin unknown as the fire gained headway before discovery. Local people and nearby farmers helped fight the flames.

Funeral held Thursday forenoon at the home and interment in Akron cemetery.

The letter from Robert Leckrone to his Uncle Fred Horne, written in France, describes meeting Algerian soldiers with teeth knives and their astonishment at gold dental work. Voters from rural areas traveled to polling places as precinct boards prepared. All registered voters in the township cast ballots, save a few soldiers still away.
