The Winona postoffice in Stark county is discontinued. Confusion between Winona and Winona Lake ends, leaving one Winona postoffice in the state, located in Stark county.
Mrs Barbara Ron Beber wife of Samuel Beber living three miles northeast of here died last Saturday morning from apoplexy after preparing breakfast and lighting a kettle for soap. Her husband heard a faint word before she collapsed and died about 6 30. Doctor Leckrone reported the death. Funeral held Monday.
Barbara Ann Clink born July 5 1852 daughter of Charles and Margarette Ann Clink married to Samuel Beber in October 1574. She was converted to the United Brethren Church twelve years ago and died May 20 1905 at age 53 years 10 months and 14 days. She leaves a husband three children one grandchild two sisters one brother and many friends. Funeral Monday conducted by TE E Butler with Revelations NDV-12 as text.
A Ladies Aid committee drafts resolutions honoring Sister Anna Beber. They note her faithful Christian service, loving husband and mother role, and her standing as a respected neighbor. The resolutions will be recorded and shared with the Claypool Journal and Silver Lake Record. Also announced: Creatore and his Italian band perform at Boyd Park west of Wabash next Sunday for three days.
The Rev L C Douglas son of the late Rev A J Douglas will exchange pulpits with Rev Kain on the first Sunday in June. He preaches at Rose Hill at 10 30 a m and at the Lutheran church in Silver Lake in the evening. He is pastor at North Manchester and regarded as a bright young man worthy of good hearing.
Jacob W. Krieg of Cincinnati purchases an 85 acre tract around Luken's lake near Roann. He plans to improve the summer resort and make it a leading destination in Wabash County.
Clarence Hill attended the dedication in Greensburg Indiana of a new 67 room building at the Odd Fellows State Home. The addition will raise capacity to about 180 guests and the structure is expected to cost about 60000, praised as one of the state’s finest.
News from Silver Lake reports the death of Frank F. Wiltrout at his South Bend home on May 6 after weeks of illness. Born April 21, 1862, he was 43 and leaves a wife Mary Metz and six children, with funeral held in South Bend. The Record notes cemetery care improvements led by trustees and P Lodge, aiming to fund upkeep via up to one dollar per lot.
Last week Roann led until late in the game but Silver Lake rallied to win by three points. Roann was shut out until the final inning when Silver Lake's pitcher was touched for several runs.
The new law makes it illegal for anyone over fourteen and under twenty one to misstate their age to buy intoxicating liquor. On conviction the offender faces a fine of not less than ten dollars and not more than one hundred dollars.
