Aunt Letty Ulrey five miles east suffered a stroke last Friday evening leaving her unable to speak while limbs remain unaffected. She is an aunt to Mrs. Samuel Civier.
Mrs. Sax, an aged resident living with her daughter Mrs. Gucinda Olinger in North Manchester, suffered a paralytic stroke last Sunday. She is sister to Elias Hlively of this place and her condition is stated as rather serious.
Ray Henderson of Portland describes his new post on the grounds of the Louis and Clark Centennial Exposition dated June 21. He praises the western country and expects the event to surpass St. Louis in natural scenery and value, inviting eastern visitors with cheap rates to enjoy the fair and western climate.
Two young men clashed at the depot last Monday over a dispute sparked by a girl. One party sustained the worse consequences, with no clear resolution of the quarrel.
The Ladies Aid Society of the M E Church will hold an Ice Cream and Strawberry Social in Mrs Brenne Swan's room on Saturday evening June 3. Warsaw Ice Cream will be served. Everybody invited.

Mrs. H I Pontius died at her Mentone home after a long illness at age forty seven. The funeral was Tuesday at the Mentone Baptist church with Rev. services, then the body was moved to Silver Lake Lakeview cemetery. She was a member of the Daughters of Rebekah and the Mentone lodge assisted in the burial ceremony.
