Morning report states five month old Robert Dean Cass was found dead by his mother Julia Cass. She fed him through the night and found him cold next morning. Coroner Keily ruled death caused by acute indigestion and the baby was laid to rest in Ligonier after funeral services.
Last Saturday Emanuel Leckrone brought a sack of wheat to the elevator and received eight silver dollars in exchange.
A large crowd gathered at Rose Hill Church last Sunday for the Isley funeral service, with many attendees from the local community paying their respects.
Martin Ear a Pennsylvania freight conductor from Fort Wayne ended his life by leaping before an oncoming train near Warsaw in the early hours Saturday. His head was severed and death was instantaneous. Officials say domestic trouble prompted the act.
Rev. H. M. Riggle assisted by Rev. Edgar Freener will begin a series of tabernacle meetings there on May 25.
Doing very nicely, Uncle Jacob Frantz has been quite sick at his home east of town but is much improved at this time. He has been in poor health since last fall. Last week he underwent an operation and since then has been doing nicely.
The Misses Opa and Audrey Ramsay traveled from North Manchester to visit their parents west of town on Saturday. Audrey then left for South Bend on Monday to take a job at an ice cream parlor.
The lifeless form of Mrs. Mary Snell, about 74, was found in an outside closet at her Sidney home last Saturday morning by a sister who had entered the house after others left for their morning chores. She had been ill for several days but felt better that morning. The sister searched the house after not finding her in sight.

Otis Isley died last Friday at his Mishawaka home after a rheumatic attack and complications. He was born November 3, 1885, married Clara Rhodes in 1909 and left a wife, three daughters, his parents, four brothers, and four sisters. Funeral services were held Sunday at Rose Hill Lutheran Church with Rev. A Z Fryberger and Rev. T D Butterbaugh officiating.
Morrett, long employed in Chicago, returns home for a few days. He reports his sister Miss Mable Morrett, also in Chicago, is hospitalized with scarlet fever.
Parcel post sale to benefit the church will be held all day and evening at the Commercial State Bank on Saturday May 19. Proceeds go to church support.
Jack Burt fell from a chair while painting his shop injuring two left wrist bones, one broken and one dislocated. He was aided by partner Mr Tucker and brought to Dr Deexton for prompt treatment. he is recovering without pain and working at the shop.
A nationwide reduction in passenger rail service is expected within a short time as all railroads prepare to cancel many trains. Details on the extent of curtailment have not been released and no final decision has been made public.
Rantz Shnoberger, from Gays Mills Wisconsin, visited Silver Lake last week with his father L A Snoberger and grandmothers. He and his mother had been in Chicago on business taking the examination and enlisting in Uncle Sam's service on the reserve list, then returned to see his many Silver Lake friends.
Washington reports the conscription bill sets the age range 21 to 31 with registration around May 28 in every precinct. One exemption for religious opponents of war. registration required with penalties for noncompliance. War Department distributes 10,000,000 cards listing twelve questions on identity, citizenship, occupation, dependents, and exemptions.
James M. Leffel selected by the Warsaw city school board for superintendent after a lengthy review of 115 applicants. A Bloomington State University graduate with Chicago University administration work he has 15 years in education and prior superintendencies in Knox and Monticello. He plans to move to Warsaw by July 1 and begin organizing for the Labor Day opening.
Members of the embroidery club were entertained by Mrs KE M Fuck at her home Friday afternoon. The event featured social time and a brief program as members gathered for fellowship and needlework.
