Obituary notes Mrs Jane Buchanan Worley died after a one week illness near Silver Lake. Born November 26, 1836 in Ohio, she was a long time Lutheran and earlier Presbyterian. Survived by three brothers and two sisters. Funeral held Wednesday at 11 in the U B church with Rev. Kain officiating.

Prison population trends in Indiana jails last October
Amos W. Butler of the state board of charities reports Indiana county jails held more prisoners than a year earlier. Total admissions in the year reached 33 810, up 3 550 from the previous year, with Vigo and Marion counties driving the rise. Marion county jail held 79 women, while one jail reported no prisoners and 45 jails had under five inmates.
Cost of Delivering Mail to Rural Patrons
Government spends about 1.08 dollars annually to deliver mail to each rural patron. If every person writes seventy five letters in a year, they will be contributing more than their share toward supporting the mail system.
