Milton Ball an old soldier and respected Silver Lake citizen died at his North Jefferson home Friday night after a long sickness. He moved to Silver Lake years ago, farmed nearby, then lived in town until his death, leaving a wide circle of grieving friends. Funeral arrangements announced for Monday.
Milton Balli born Knox County Ohio May 1 1843 died Silver Lake Indiana June 35 191 aged 68 years 1 month 15 days lived in Ohio until 17 then moved to Kosciusko County Indiana enlisted in Co D 47th Indiana Infantry reported for muster October 21 1861 at Camp Sullivan near Indianapolis discharged December 12 1864 married Elizabeth J Brown December 1865. seven children survive funeral conducted by Rev Lowers at Lutheran Church North Manchester after long illness with thanks from wife and children.
An automobile party led by W. O. Draper J F Hiatt J Gossett and Rev R C Dillman came from Converse and visited the William Dillman home for two days last Thursday and Friday. They spent the time on the lake angling for fish and landed a goodly number to take home.
A group including William Gresso Frank Haney and Clarence Jontz with Misses Faun Kerlin Tressie Helser and Lulu Sprigg visited Yellow Creek lake last Saturday night and stayed until Sunday evening. Jr. and Mrs Roy Hanes joined them Sunday morning for a pleasant time.

Andy Drudge of Noah Frantz place east of town broke right arm and dislocated shoulder when he tripped on a loose board while chasing cattle. Frederick Hines north west of town fractured left arm above the elbow after his mule team bolted while mowing hay. a physician reduced the fracture and he was recovering.
Capt Byrer Lt Marick and Surgeons Chinoweth Longfellow Clover and Pvt F Clover led a Warsaw Co H detachment here with 23 members. Full equipment arrived as they prepare for a six mile hike to Mount Pleasant on Sunday July 2 for practice and joint drills with Warsaw troops.
Arrangements are under way to hold a Business Men's Rally Day this Sunday June 25. Twenty singers from Noblesville will perform and A B Cline the local lumberman will deliver an address. The all day meeting invites everyone to attend and spread the word, with a band concert Thursday evening.
A. J. Scott returned home last Friday after a two week absence and attended the Roach family reunion near Reedsburg on June 3. The gathering drew more than 150 relatives and he visited various sites across Ohio during his stay in the Buckeye State.

The Swihart family met at W. A. Swihart’s home for their annual reunion held last Sunday in this place. Five brothers and their families gathered with Grandma Swihart, nearly eighty, in attendance. The next reunion is planned for June 1912 at Enos Swihart’s Greentown residence.

John Hixhop of Battle Creek Michigan, visiting his father William Bishop southwest of town, left Silver Lake to seek his fortune three years ago. He works for a railroad company in Battle Creek and earns good wages as he rises in his field.

George Williams of Texas wed Cora Friend at the bride’s home at eight on Monday evening in a small gathering. Rev A. D. Buck officiated. The couple will stay here for a period before moving to Indianapolis to reside.
Miss Amanda White died at her Roann area home last Friday night from burns received while water was heated for washing clothes. She was badly burned when fire spread before help arrived, and though initially expected to recover, her condition worsened leading to death.
Letter from Foss Hawley aboard the U S Ship Connecticut at Newport Rhode Island dated June 17 1911. He mentions enlistment in October for three years and plans to parade with President Taft aboard the Mayflower, cruise in November, and a trip to Cuba. He notes being well and sends a photo in work clothes.
State Fish Commissioner Miles says fishing in Northern Indiana lakes is better this year than in many years and will improve throughout the season. He credits a crusade against fish pirates who previously violated the law and took thousands of fish from the lakes illegally.

Miss Mary Stout of Warsaw underwent an appendicitis operation Monday at the home of her brother, County Clerk Edwin Stout, in Warsaw. At last report she was getting along as well as could be expected.
Scott Lawrence was in Warsaw on Tuesday and purchased a new Buick automobile. He is described as a hard worker in years past and worthy of the luxuries life offers.
Fred Bush departs Sunday for Lebanon Kentucky to join the Akron band performing a Chautauqua there. He will stay ten days accompanying the group on the trip.
